Research Interests

I conduct research in Cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Fog computing, Distributed Data Analytics, migrating and adapting scientific/enterprise computing applications to the cloud, mobile web and cloud services, and designing cloud economic and deployment models.

Short Biography

Professional:

Satish Narayana Srirama is a Professor at the School of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Hyderabad, India. He is also a Visiting Professor and the honorary head of the Mobile & Cloud Lab at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu, Estonia, which he led as a Research Professor until June 2020. He received his Ph.D. in computer science from RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2008. His current research focuses on cloud computing, mobile web services, mobile cloud, Internet of Things, fog computing, migrating scientific computing and enterprise applications to the cloud, and large-scale data analytics on the cloud. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an Editor of Wiley Software: Practice and Experience, a 53-year-old Journal, was an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions in Cloud Computing, and a program committee member of several international conferences and workshops. Dr. Srirama has co-authored over 180 refereed scientific publications in international conferences and journals.

Personal:

Satish Narayana Srirama was born in Peddapadmapuram, a small village in Srikakulam Dist, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Completed Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Systems Engineering, from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India, during Jun' 95 - Apr' 99.
After Engineering, he worked in Indian software industry as 'Software Engineer', before joining for Masters at RWTH Aachen University.
Completed his Master of Sciences (M.Sc.) in Software Systems Engineering, from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, during Oct' 02 - Jul' 04.
Joined the Information Systems and Databases Group (Informatik 5), RWTH Aachen University, Germany as a PhD student, at the beginning of November 2004.
He was also a visiting researcher at Ericsson Research, Aachen, during 2003 - 2008.
Finished his doctoral (PhD) thesis on "Mobile Hosts in Enterprise Service Integration" during September 2008.
Worked as Postdoc @ Information Systems and Databases Group, RWTH Aachen University, Germany , during Oct' 08 - Jul' 09.
Joined as a Researcher @ Institute of computer science, University of Tartu, Estonia, in July 2009. Promoted to Senior Researcher in 2011 and to Associate Professor in 2012. Later he was promoted to Research Professor in Jan' 2018, the position which he held until June 2020.
Then he returned back to his homeland and joined School of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Hyderabad on 29th June 2020, as an Associate Professor and then promoted to Professor in Jun 2023.
