Hobbies, etc.

I just love astronomy!

I have been observing the skies over Hyderabad since 1977 and even today after 31 years am not tired of it one little bit.

Model Trains

There is something about trains that brings out the eternal kid in me. I own an HO scale layout but it has been packed while we moved from one apartment to another. One of these days, I will bring it out and set it up.

Reading Books

Favourite authors:

As you can see, I like light reading. Besides these, I really, really enjoy reading books on science.

Drawing and Painting

Not very good, but makes me feel really good. Shall give a few examples later.

Et cetera (?)

I like to write about Computer Science. There do not seem to be many books written for the laypersons with a view to popularising the subject. My dream is a book, tentatively titled, "Bedside Computer Science". The idea is to present roughly 30 - 40 small topics in a casual, yet technically correct, style that cover the essentials of the subject. A reader going through, dipping and sipping into the book at random, should gain an understanding of the subject and also realise why it has found its way into almost every aspect of our day to day life.

In the meantime, here is an example on an informal introduction to programming.

One of my recent interests is Carnatic Music especially the theory, having been blessed with very little or no practical skills.

Other stuff of interest.
