SEMINAR NOTICE
Application
of Data Flow Architecture in Database Query Execution
Dr. Hareesh Boinepelli, Engineering Manager, Teradata
DATE & TIME : 6 September 2013, 4PM VENUE: SEMINAR ROOM, SCIS
Abstract
It
is no secret that general purpose CPUs have major bottlenecks that
need to be eliminated rather than mitigated. Typically vendors and
users seek to ease these bottlenecks through proven techniques such
as parallelism, disk striping and advanced tuning. However, these are
stop gap measures that do not address the fundamental issue that
general purpose computers are not optimized to move and analyze large
amounts of data in a short period of time. Data Flow Architecture and
its application to data warehousing applications addresses this
fundamental issue in a new and innovative way. It is a purpose-built
appliance based on data flow engine specifically designed for
processing large amounts of data in the database there by enhancing
the query performance.
