SEMINAR NOTICE

Coding theory: a brief background and its application in cryptology.

Dr.Bhaskar, C.R.Rao Institute

DATE & TIME : 30 August 2013, 4PM VENUE: SEMINAR ROOM, SCIS

Abstract

Coding theory is an area that formally belongs to applied Mathematics. Its application in computer science is various and still being found out. The talk shall give an overview of codes, how to encode, decode and some basic idea about underlying hard problems. We shall talk about mainly linear codes.

The code based cryptography plays a distinct role in Public Key Cryptosystems. It has a firm, well developed mathematical background. The systems are supposed to resist the threat that will be posed by quantum computers.
